Performs preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment; Diagnoses and troubleshoots malfunctions; makes repairs; Maintains vehicle and equipment records to track maintenance intervals and history; Schedules equipment maintenance and repair; Makes welding repairs and fabricates parts; Maintains inventory of parts and supplies; reorders as needed; Copies, codes, and files invoices; Operates various types of shop equipment, machinery, precision instruments, and specialized tools; Makes roadside repairs as needed; Operates equipment in support of department operations as needed.
Saluda County is accepting applications for a mechanic. Duties include but are not limited to: Performs preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment; Diagnoses and troubleshoots malfunctions; makes repairs; Maintains vehicle and equipment records to track maintenance intervals and history; Schedules equipment maintenance and repair; Makes welding repairs and fabricates parts; Maintains inventory of parts and supplies; reorders as needed; Copies, codes, and files invoices; Operates various types of shop equipment, machinery, precision instruments, and specialized tools; Makes roadside repairs as needed; Operates equipment in support of department operations as needed. Possession of or the ability to readily obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License; possession of a health card. Knowledge and level of competency are commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
