Wages/Salary: Salary hiring range: $29,494 - $35,183 In addition to salary, employee healthcare is covered by the City. Employees also get paid vacation/sick time as well as 12 paid holidays per year.
High School graduate with Vocational/technical training in automotive mechanics, and one to two years of experience as a mechanic or a closely related position; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess a valid S.C. commercial driver's license or willing to obtain one within one year. Additional details about qualifications may be found online.
Under direct supervision, is responsible for performing repair and maintenance of a variety of City vehicles and small equipment as changing oil and fluids, changing various filters, greasing, rotating tires, cleaning, and other routine tasks. Performs repairs and general maintenance on City vehicles and equipment including garbage trucks, police vehicles, tractors, fire trucks, lawn mowers, weed eaters, etc.; performs minor tune-ups; repairs and services air conditioning systems: and replaces brake pads and shoes. Performs tasks such as performing SC inspection procedures and preparing work orders. Reports to the Maintenance Superintendent.
