A 10th grade education and three and one-half (3.5) years of work experience that involved the independent performance of job duties directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class A Commercial Driverís License. (Note): This position requires a valid Class A Commercial Driverís License. However, applicants without a Class A Commercial Driverís License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class A Commercial Driverís License are available.
Under general supervision, performs skilled routine or specialized repairs to state vehicles and equipment at the Richland Maintenance repair shop. Performs preventive maintenance and repairs to heavy equipment to include, but not limited to, motor graders, bulldozers, athey loaders, front end loaders, paving machines, excavators and backhoes. Diagnoses and repairs large and small gas and diesel engines used in heavy equipment. Repairs manual and hydrostatic drivelines and transmissions on heavy equipment. Performs preventive maintenance and repairs to slope mowers and hydro axe mowers. Provides guidance and direction to other mechanics. Works during hazardous weather or other emergencies performing duties as outlined by shift supervisor.
