Requirements:
  • A 10th grade education and four (4) years of work experience that involved the independent performance of job duties directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
  • A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License.

(NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.

Job Description:

This is a re-advertisement. Previous applicants are still being considered and do not need to reapply. Diagnoses problems, makes repairs and replaces parts on the Reclamator assigned to the District Two Reclamation Crew. Performs routine maintenance required on the Reclamator in accordance with manufacturers and SCDOT servicing schedules. Diagnoses problems, makes repairs and replaces parts on motorgrader, chip spreader, cement spreader, rollers, trucks, tractors and other equipment assigned to the District Two Reclamation Crew. Performs  routine maintenance required on this equipment in accordance with manufacturers and SCDOT servicing schedules. Repairs other diesel power equipment in District Two to include motorgraders, backhoes, loaders, rollers, AMZ machines, tractors, and mowing equipment. Repairs diesel engines to include cooling system, fuel system, transmissions, rear ends, hydraulics systems, gear box, steering, engines, drive trains, PTO and other various types of repairs. Performs preventive maintenance as required. Performs welding and fabrication as needed for repairs on various equipment making modifications to equipment to improve the production of utilizations. Performs both electric welding and gas welding. Ensures that all hazardous waste and materials are properly stored and or disposed as per DHEC regulations. Containers must be properly labeled. Performs work on electrical systems on equipment and vehicles. Installs, repairs or replaces computers, alternators, strobe lights, starters, anti-lock brakes and DMIs. Performs routine and general maintenance and repairs to automotive vehicles. Performs other duties as required by supervisor including responding to service calls in the field as required. Assists with snow and ice removal and other emergency responses.
