Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent with nine to twelve months of experience in meter reading and servicing; or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have a valid South Carolina driver's license. Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated machines, which includes a computer, etc. Must be able to exert up to twenty pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Position may involve walking for long periods of time. May involve reaching, stopping, and balancing. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of up to seventy-five pounds.
Under general supervision, performs routine service work and general repair work to utility meters. Work involves reading electric, water, and effluent flow meters; and recording consumption by utility customer. Reports to the Meter Service Supervisor. Runs errands as needed. Performs other related duties as required.
