The MLT-Must have an Associate degree from a MLT program in an accredited institution required, or eligible for ASCP registry. Must have a minimum of 1 year MLT experience preferred.
The Lab Assistant-Must have a high school diploma or equivalent required. Must have certification to perform phlebotomy functions or complete competency assessment upon hire. 1 year prior experience in laboratory setting required.
The MLT- The MLT performs various clinical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Receives or obtains specimens for lab analysis. Prepares and applies techniques used in fields of blood bank, bacteriology, parasitology, hematology, serology, urinalysis, chemistry and morphological examinations. Must maintain and record lab results and quality control in all areas.
The Lab Assistant- The Lab Assistant must collect blood samples from patients required for the performance of laboratory tests as requested by the physician with the least possible discomfort to the patient with efficiency, performing all registration and procedure ordering in the LIS. In addition to all phlebotomy skills, supporting the lab techs with all types of specimen processing, from in house testing to reference lab processing and ordering.
