A bachelor?s degree and experience in automated information or communication system design, installation, operation, repair, sales or marketing. Related experience
may be substituted for the bachelor?s degree on a year-for-year basis. A bachelor?s degree in Computer Information Systems with an emphasis in Networking preferred. Valid driver?s license is required. Must be able to lift and move 50 pounds, climb ladders and use power tools. Excellent technical skills with a proven track record in network
design and support efforts. Expertise in network design and implementation. Strong written and verbal
communication skills are essential. Should possess excellent time management, decision making and
analytical skills. Ability to manage, train, direct and coordinate work of student technicians. Must be
able to prepare technical reports and detailed computer specifications for purchases. Ability to establish
effective working relationships with faculty, staff and students. Experience in managing and
configuring Microsoft server software and hardware.
Under limited supervision, manages the design, administration, maintenance and repair of
the local area network. Monitors network performance and maintains network security. Evaluates
vendor products in hardware, software and telecommunications and recommends purchases consistent
with short and long term objectives. Recommends and implements network policies and standards,
ensuring adherence to security procedures. Maintains contact with outside organizations in the
maintenance, service and/or purchase of the network. Trains users on network operations and
procedures.
