Position Requirements

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization. Graduate from a Cardiovascular/Ultrasound program or equivalent experience and certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), or a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) reguired. RDCS certified in Adult Echocardiology (AE) and/or Pediatric Echocardiography (PE), or eligible for certification within one year. Minimum of 1 year experience in major teaching institution or 2 years in a smaller private facility as a Cardiac Sonographer. Must possess a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification.

Preferred Requirements

Pediatric echocardiography experience. Experience in Fetal Echocardiography (FE)

Job Description:

The Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for proficiency in all modalities of congenital and non-congenital echocardiography including 2-D, 3-D, M-mode, CW/PW Doppler, and TEE. Working knowledge of congenital heart disease and surgical repair. Responsible for performing and reporting on echocardiograms for infants and children with congenital and non-congenital heart disease, and adults with congenital heart disease as well as teaching/training of residents, medical students and paramedical staff receiving in-service training in echocardiography. Participates in activities and functions necessary for the optimal performance of laboratory. Contributes to positive work environment. Cultivates a collaborative and cooperative work environment within department.
