Requirements:

Education: High school graduate; PREFER graduate of a SC Board of Pharmacy recognized pharmacy technician training program or currently enrolled in a pre-pharmacy academic program at an accredited university

Experience: 1 year pharmacy experience OR 2 years health-care related experience PREFERRED.

Licensure, Registry or Certification Required: Current registration with SC Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician.

Special Training: Must have thorough knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology; possess good mathematical skills; possess problem-solving abilities; able to work in team situations; able to handle urgent, stressful situations; Corporate and departmental mandatory training required annually

Job Description:

All employees are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Baptist Easley?s values of compassion, dignity, excellence, integrity and teamwork. In addition, this job also assists pharmacists in performing a variety of general technical duties related to the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients. These duties require knowledge of and skills in the preparation and distribution of drugs in various dosage forms. Supports pharmaceutical care for patients and complies with laws & regulations of appropriate state and federal agencies and guidelines of JCAHO.

Key Responsibilities:

Exhibits good interpersonal skills in interacting with supervisors, peers, and others outside pharmacy.

Obtains supplies, prepares and labels drug orders under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.

Calculates and compounds aliquot doses.

Distributes and/or transports medications and carts to appropriate patient care areas in a timely manner and under a pharmacist's supervision.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Makes beneficial recommendations for improvements in procedures, guidelines and continuing education training.

Monitors inventory levels, stocks shelves, maintains order and cleanliness in assigned areas and maintains all required records.

Serves as a good steward of the institutions resources, including time on the job.

Provides training and participates in in servicing departmental employees and students in technical aspects of pharmacy services.

PRN - must be available for 1st or 2nd shift, 8 hr shifts; Sun - Sat
