Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in leisure services, parks, precreation management or related field supplemented by (9) nine – (12) twelve months of responsible experience in recreation programming; or equivalent combination. Must be physically able to operate a variety of maintenance tools, hand tools, and equipment. Must be able to operate office equipment and record/organize/distribute documents. Must be physically able to exert up to (50) fifty pounds of force occasionally.

Job Description:

More specific job duties will include organizing leagues and try-outs, coordinating programs and advertising, making schedules for volunteers, purchasing and maintaining sports equipment, scheduling umpires/referees, in addition to some officiating activities. In regards to PR duties, must be comfortable with speaking on the radio, writing articles and notices for newspapers, and public speaking as needed. Other tasks assigned to the Program Coordinator could be general maintenance of ball fields and parks, fertilizing/poisoning weeds, mowing grass, and cleaning shelters and bathrooms. The Program Coordinator is also a supervisor to part-time staff. Responsible for planning and coordinating activities, staff and with other agencies. Reports to the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Director.
