Wages/Salary: $36,000-$40,000 (hiring range to commensurate with experience)
Associates degree with a minimum of two years supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. The best candidate will have solid personnel management skills, be a team player, demonstrate excellent organizational skills, think critically and quickly, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience in security or public safety a plus. Must possess or be eligible for a valid South Carolina driver's license.
Under general supervision is responsible for the 24 hour security of Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. Manages a team of public safety officers whose responsibilities include: reception, Zoo & Garden zones, and parking lots. Demonstrates excellent communication with staff and guests. Provides leadership and supervision to the Public Safety Department. Coordinates and plans departmental schedules, meetings, payroll, special event staffing, and parking concepts for guests and staff. Orders supplies for First Aid locations and maintains best practice standards in First Aid locations. Provides guidance and training to Public Safety staff through written policies and procedures and direct instruction. Serves as primary contact for any public safety needs. Serves on Riverbanks Zoo and Garden?s safety committee. Implements appropriate safety protocols and policies that work within Riverbanks growing operation. Conducts various safety drills and trains staff on different safety issues. Works closely with other managers and department heads for both public safety needs and safety concerns. Reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
