Purchasing Agent

Summary of Duties:

The purchasing agent negotiates vendor terms, prices and schedules delivery using knowledge of budget and schedule requirements. Responsible for purchasing, distributing materials, equipment, and supplies in the organization by performing the following duties personally or through delegation.

Job Duties Include (but not limited to):

 Plans, organizes, and controls activities related to the procurement function through the use of MRP
 Organizes, the work of the tool crib and central supply personnel engaged in receiving, issuing, delivering supplies and equipment
 Prepares instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures
 Develops a system to evaluate vendor quotations that utilizes appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery and service
 Implements, manages and monitors procurement reporting systems to meet company requirements
 Recruits and maintains suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a competitive price, while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct
 Prepares and issues purchase orders
 Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy
 Arranges for disposal of surplus materials
 Performs other duties as assigned by the Operations Support Manager
