Must be at least 21 years of age with a HS diploma. Some college education is preferred. Must have excellent communication and leadership skills. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Prior work experience with ponies, horses or other large farm animals preferred. Must be willing and able to interact with guests and employees of all ages. Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, be able to lift 50lbs, and walk long distances repetitively.
Under general supervision is responsible for the successful operation of the Pony Ride Attraction at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. The Senior Pony Ride Attendant will act as a day-to-day, hands-on, direct leader to staff working the attraction. Ensures the safe and efficient operation of the Pony Ride Attraction and consistent high quality service to all guests. Trains staff on proper methods to lead ponies around the outdoor trail while interacting with young riders. Monitors and completes tasks such as feeding, grooming and cleaning. Serves as primary contact to the Senior Keeper and reports to the Attractions Coordinator and Attractions Manager.
