High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A 2 year degree in machine tool technology a plus. Eight to twelve years machining experience with increasing complexity and responsibility. Working knowledge of machining / assembly techniques, machine equipment and systems and machining principles. Works on highly complex tool and gage making projects with little to no technical instructions of supervisor or lead person. Performs the more difficult machining work on complicated details to meet exact dimensional and finish requirements, using any piece of tool room equipment. (3axis cnc mill, cnc lathe, cnc grinder, wire EDM, surface grinders). Analyze assignment and establish a process to fabricate from start to finish any gage, fixture or proto-type using any piece of tool room equipment efficiently. Analyze blueprints, sketches, models, verbal communication and project functionality to develop a process strategy that achieves the highest quality product. Investigate the difficulty and makes needed repairs and adjustments required, in a timely manner, to put fixtures back in use. Works closely with engineering department in development of models and prototypes using complicated mechanical, electronic and hydraulic control mechanisms. Ability to operate sophisticated measuring equipment to ensure that all quality specifications are met. Able to program, set-up and operate a variety of CNC machines using the following software. (pt4, Auto-Cad, PEPS, Creo, Mastercam) Strong understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems as they relate to fixtures.
