A 10th grade education and one and one-half (1.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License are available.
Trains in the operation of a slope mower and or guardrail mower. Operates combination tractor mowers (sickle/rotary) in cutting right-of-way and shoulders. Sets up traffic control according to SCMUTCD standards to warn motorists of road work ahead. Flags traffic during road repairs to control flow of traffic to protect workers, general public and equipment. Operates standard dump truck with snow plow attachment and sand spreader to remove snow and ice from highways and bridges. Performs other related job duties as requested or assigned by supervisor. Trains to operates tandem ten-wheel dump truck, 5 to 10 yard standard dump truck, and flatbed truck hauling materials such as asphalt, limestone, dirt, soil, cement, pipe, construction material and debris. Trains to operate heavier equipment combination front-end loader and backhoe, asphalt distributor, tractor trailer. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment as outlined in equipment specifications.
