A 10th grade education and one and one-half (1.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class ?A? Performs duties using manual, in such maintenance task as clearing of right-of-ways, cleaning
drainage ditches, repairing shoulders, patching potholes, making base repairs, repairing bridges,
paving driveways, and laying sideline/cross line pipe. Assists in the replacement or repair to
steel guardrail requiring employee to be able to work with small tools and to be physically able
to dig holes for guardrail posts. Performs other related job duties as requested or assigned by
supervisor. Flags traffic during road repairs to control flow of traffic to protect workers, general
public and equipment. Operates standard dump truck with snow plow attachment and sand
spreader to remove snow and ice from highways and bridges. Removes litter, debris and dead
animals from roadway and rights-of-way. Trains in the operation of tandem dump truck. Assists
with maintenance/ repairs of concrete and timber bridges and installation of bridge cribbing and
removal of debris and timber from channel. Conducts and documents pre-operation
vehicle/equipment inspection.
