Requirements:

A 10th grade education and three and one-half (3.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.

Job Description:

Operates heavy equipment including Maddox RD 90 Ditcher/tractor driven, motorgrader,
backhoe, belt loader and broom tractor in order to ensure proper drainage of roadways.Operates tandem ten-wheel dump truck, 5 yard standard dump truck, and flatbed truck for hauling materials including asphalt, limestone, dirt, soil, cement, pipe, construction materials and debris. Produces daily records of work performed and materials used. Records include HMMS and the maintenance requests and complaints forms. Assumes foreman's duties and responsibilities during their absence. Operates standard dump truck with snow plow attachment and sand spreader to remove snow and ice from highways and bridges. Sets up traffic control according to SCMUTCD standards to warn motorist of road work ahead. Conducts and documents pre-operation vehicle/equipment inspection. Performs other related job duties as requested or assigned by supervisor. Removes litter, debris and dead animals from roadway and rights-of-way. This position requires employee to lift heavy objects.
