A 10th grade education and three and one-half (3.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources. A valid Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License are available.
Operates motorgraders in ditching, shoulder operations, grading and machining roads, driveway installation or snow and ice removal. Serves as a crew leader performing various duties within a county or section of county including patching roadway surfaces, cleaning ditches and performing manual skilled labor. Sets up traffic control according to SCMUTCD standards to warn motorist of road work ahead. Assumes supervisor's duties and responsibilities during their absence. Performs other job related duties, including on call for after hour emergencies. Operates tandem dump truck in hauling maintenance and construction materials including concrete pipes, asphalt, dirt, and coquina. Instructs crew members daily in safety practices. Practices includes flagging operations, wearing of safety equipment, vehicle safety, or when working with hazardous material and waste. Operates various pieces of equipment in snow and ice removal as necessary.
