MINIMUM AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A 10th grade education and four and one-half (4.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License are available.

Serves as lead person of a sign erection crew performing related duties such as erecting,straightening and maintaining signs on SCDOT right of way according to South Carolina manual on Uniform Traffic Control and to the standard drawings. Assumes supervisor's duties and responsibilities during their absence. Inspects signs for serviceability and safety. Assists in management of sign room and sign room inventory according to SCDOT policy. Requests signs to be ordered and inventories signs when delivered. Serves as crew leader when crew is dispersed;
may direct mowing operations and herbicide spraying. Sets up traffic control according to SCMUTCD standards to warn motorist of road work ahead. Operates tandem dump truck in hauling maintenance and construction materials such as concrete pipes, asphalt, dirt, coquina. Operates truck mounted plows and sand spreaders in snow and ice removal as necessary. Picks up Adopt-A-Highway bags from right of ways, removes dead animals and debris from SCDOT roadways and right-of-ways. Performs other job related duties as assigned by supervisor.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday (8:30 - 5:00)
