A 10th grade education and three and one-half (3.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.
Serves as crew leader performing various duties within a section of county such as patching roadway surfaces, cleaning ditches, clearing rights of way, and performing manual skilled labor.
Operates slope mower with a Buzz Bar attachment in limbing operations on highway right-of-ways.
Sets up traffic control according to SCMUTCD standards to warn motorist of road work ahead. Assumes supervisor's duties and responsibilities during their absence. Performs other related duties, including on call for after hour emergencies. Operates truck mounted plows and sand spreaders in snow and ice removal as necessary. Instructs crew members daily in safety
practices. Practices such as flagging operations, wearing of safety equipment, vehicle safety, or when working with hazardous material and waste. Conducts and documents pre-operation vehicle/equipment inspection.
