A high school diploma and five and one-half (5.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified
applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.
Supervises a crew of skilled and semi-skilled Trades Specialists involved in mechanical mowing, brush management, and limbing to maintain and preserve all State-maintained roads and bridges in Newberry County in accordance with goals set forth in Business Plan. Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly reports, maps, timesheets, accomplishments, and cost records in HMMS and applicable systems. Constantly checks servicing and maintenance of crew equipment to ensure good working order. Responsible for daily log and inspection sheets from each crew member. Investigates work requests and schedules all necessary work in specialized area to keep pace with goals set forth in Business Plan. Performs duties such as on rotation stand-by one week out of seven, and any emergencies or adverse weather conditions which may require overtime or weekend work. Conducts routine safety meetings, instructing crew members in aspects of jobsite hazard analysis. Investigates, recommends, and/or takes corrective actions in connection with damage to SCDOT or private property, which are complex in nature. Performs other related duties.
