MINIMUM AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma and seven and one-half (7.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid commercial driver's license. (Note): This position requires a class A commercial driver's license. However, applicants without a class A commercial driver's license will be considered if no qualified applicants with a class A commercial driver's license are available. However, applicants are required to obtain a class A commercial driver's license within six (6) months of employment. May be required to work overtime, nights, weekends or holidays, and during inclement weather or other emergencies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Trades Experience that is directly related to this area of employment. Supervisory experience.
Performs duties of shop foreman. Oversees the work of mechanics and technicians and handles various administrative duties. Responsible for hiring and training new employees and provides regular performance reviews to ensure that quality work is being completed. Oversees maintenance of heavy duty equipment and trucks. Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of mechanics who perform a variety of routine and complex repairs to both gasoline and diesel powered equipment and vehicles. Contacts correct agencies in warranty type work on new equipment. Assists mechanics in performing any necessary repairs to vehicles and equipment as needed. Assists with purchasing parts and supplies. Provides technical expertise in ordering parts and supplies. Checks inventories for spare parts. Ensures that the shop area is maintained in a safe, clean, and organized manner. Performs other related duties.
