Wages/Salary: $30,274.00 - $56,015.00 Annually
A high school diploma and nine and one-half (9.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's Licenses within six (6) months of placement in the position. However,applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.
Responsible for the maintenance of county roads, coordinates the work of supervisors and crew members. Assists with planning, organizing crew, materials and equipment. Inspects work in progress and makes follow-up inspections. Inspected work includes road condition, retreatment, ditching, mowing, bridge repair, drainage, signs and vegetation management. Schedules work on a priority basis. Supervises staff to include preparing performance planning and evaluation documents and related personnel paperwork. Coaches, counsels and trains employees. Establishes and monitors work processes. Implements management policies and initiatives and promotes teamwork within the organization. Instructs and supervises staff in maintenance operations of roadways on a daily basis and plans, schedules and completes
projects on a timely basis. Assists Resident Maintenance Engineer in the daily operation of maintaining all state roads and bridges in McCormick County. Ensures the SCDOT Preventive Maintenance Program is being followed and inspects equipment on a monthly basis. Reviews HMMS work requests and complaints from the public and tracks each work request or complaint through to completion. Ensures Department rules, regulations and safety rules are followed. Ensures that maintenance crews follow DHEC and OSHA rules and regulations. Maintains accurate daily, weekly, monthly, yearly records. Assists Resident Maintenance Engineer with evaluation of equipment on a regular basis in order to maintain optimum efficiency of
McCormick Maintenance operations. Communicates with local officials, administrations, and public, investigating field complaints.
