Wages/Salary: $32,838.00 - $60,760.00 Annually

Requirements:

A high school diploma and seven and one half (7.5) years of related trades experience; or an
approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A"
Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However,
applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified
applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.
Incumbent must become a qualified rigger and maintain certification.
Must maintain a Crane Operator Certification.

Job Description:

Supervises the construction of bridges in the eight counties of District 2. Reviews and reports
maintenance work being performed within specified areas. Prepares daily reports, weekly
maintenance reports, time and leave records, recommends and takes appropriate disciplinary
action, and prepares ratings on employees under their supervision. Prepares written reports
when equipment of personnel is involved in accidents. Completes the Daily Work Report for
assigned crew. Completes EPMS evaluations and time sheets. Completes correspondence
concerning equipment issues. Responsible for erosion control on bridge sites and must maintain
a CEPSCI certification. Responsible for deciding what size crane will be used for the different
aspects of the construction process. Responsible for the safe rigging and placement of bridge
decks. Performs other related duties as required by supervisor. Trains employees in the safe
operation of equipment needed to perform daily tasks. Responsible for the testing of materials
used in bridge construction. Oversees the construction of forms and false work. Supervises
crews during emergencies and/or hazardous weather. Operates equipment such as backhoes,
loaders, track hoes, and trenchers. Responsible for making sure all SCDHEC rules and
regulations are followed. Responsible for obtaining all required permits in the construction
process.
