•Serves as primary resource for the care of all canines in the K2 canine program. Responsibilities include treatment for all emergency situations as well as routine medical requirements. Must maintain accurate and timely reports as designated by contracts.
•Must examine all new incoming canines within 24 hours of arrival to Training Center. Must be able to draw blood, collect urine & feces and send to lab promptly. For dogs not under contract, must complete monthly heartworm, flea & tick meds and be familiar with placement of micro-chips.
•Must be comfortable and capable of handling all types of large canines including labs, shepherds and malinois with aggressive and docile behaviors.
•Must ensure Vet Tech’s area of kennel is always in perfect condition, available for inspection and review by inspectors/guests with very short notice.
•Liaison with multiple clinics and mail order companies. Must be able to develop and maintain excellent work relationships with clinics and all other contract medical personnel and vendors.
•Must be willing and able to transport dogs to Cary, NC and Fort Bragg, NC for examinations and other health care needs for canines.
•Must be able and willing to work 40 hours weekly with on call responsibilities for weekends and holidays. (Shared with another Vet Tech and Veterinarian)
