Fall Graduation Set for Dec. 12

Piedmont Technical College (PTC) will conduct two fall commencement ceremonies on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019. The first, at 3 p.m., will celebrate graduates in the arts & sciences, business, computer technology, commercial art & public service, engineering & industrial technologies. The second, at 7 p.m., will celebrate graduates in health care. Both programs will take place in the James Medford Family Event Center on the college’s Lex Walters Campus-Greenwood.

Graduation speakers for the 3 p.m. commencement will be Jade Freeman and Noel Johnson.

Freeman, a human services major from McCormick County, completed her social work internship with the Edgefield County Department of Social Services and Bowers-Rodgers Children’s Home. She is actively seeking a position in her field as well as considering continued study in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in sociology.

Johnson, a business administration-accounting major from Greenwood, recently has become the college’s face of internship for her successful part-time work at WCTEL in Abbeville. As a result of that experience, she plans to pursue a career in human resources.

The speaker for the 7 p.m. commencement will be Jade Smith, who will be graduating with an associate degree in nursing. The Asheville native is considering job offers and hopes soon to relocate with her fiancé to the Spartanburg area.

Those planning to attend should note that, in the interest of safety, PTC has increased security measures for all graduation ceremonies. Guests are encouraged to leave unnecessary items in vehicles; umbrellas and balloons will NOT be allowed into the event. Any bags carried into the Medford Center must be made of clear plastic.

The Emerald City Brass will provide musical entertainment at both graduation ceremonies. Due to limited seating, tickets will be required for all guests in attendance. Each individual ticketholder, including children, will be entitled to one seat only.
