International Honor Society Recognizes PTC Advisor for Service Milestone

The Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, which recognizes the academic achievement of state and community college students, recently honored Piedmont Technical College (PTC) Admissions Specialist Vernessia Wideman for five-years of service as an advisor to PTC’s Omega Chi Chapter.

“To be recognized in this way is truly beyond words. I am very thankful and find this recognition to be truly rewarding,” Wideman said. “Being a part of the Omega Chi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa is an honor within itself. By being a part of this organization, it helps me direct my passion and honor toward the students to help them strive for the best in life and to reach their goals.”

Wideman’s supervisor was pleased by the news and agreed the honor is well-deserved.

“It was not surprising to see Vern recognized for her work as a chapter advisor for Phi Theta Kappa,” said Jalissa Adger, assistant director for admissions at PTC. “Vern demonstrates excellent customer service every day in the Admissions Office when interacting with students. She goes above and beyond to ensure that anyone who walks into the Enrollment Center walks out satisfied and sporting a smile. She is truly a gem with a caring spirit and contagious smile! I am so thankful she is a part of our team.”
