Scholarship Luncheon Honors Recipients, Donors

Scholarships were presented to students and donors were recognized at the recent scholarship luncheon.

Piedmont Technical College student and Greenwood resident Johnson Wooten, left, recently received the Building Construction Technology (BCT) Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Wooten, a BCT student, is pictured with Bobby Roche, BCT program director. The scholarship is awarded annually based on academic achievement and financial need to Building Construction Technology majors.  

 

greenwood chamber scholarshipTwo Piedmont Technical College students received the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce Community Scholarship at a recent scholarship luncheon. Pictured are, from left, Matt Howard from the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce; Jasmine Johnson, an office management student from Greenwood; and Angelle LaBorde from the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce. Not pictured is Alicia Mansel, a practical nursing student from Greenwood. The scholarship is awarded annually to a resident of Greenwood County who is registered as a full-time student in good academic standing who is active in community service and willing to attend/volunteer at a Chamber Event.

 

brighter futures scholarshipThree Piedmont Technical College students recently received the Brighter Futures Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Pictured are, from left, Paige Childs, vice president for finance; Maria Serrano, an early childhood development student from Abbeville; and Dulce Gantt, an administrative office technology student from Saluda. Not pictured is Alexis Busha’, a commercial art student from Greenwood. This scholarship is the Piedmont Technical College Scholarship Committee’s “Choice Award” and is available to any Piedmont Technical College student.

 

greenwood garden club scholarshipPiedmont Technical College student and Greenwood resident Michael Smathers recently received the Greenwood Council of Garden Clubs Scholarship. Smathers, right, an associate in science student, was congratulated by Charlotte Barmore from the Greenwood Council of Garden Clubs The scholarship was established to assist a high school student entering the Horticulture Program. The scholarship is restricted to Greenwood County residents. Student must have at least a 3.0 high school grade point average.

 

 

charles baumeister scholarshipTwo Piedmont Technical College students recently received the Charles Baumeister Memorial Scholarship. Pictured, from left, are Amber Woods, an administrative office technology student Greenwood; and Sally Baumeister, scholarship donor. Not pictured is Emily Gray, an associate in arts student from North Venice, Fl. The scholarship, which is awarded to a student with a 3.0 grade point average, was established in memory of Charles Baumeister, a long-time faculty member of the college who served as dean of the Business and Industrial Divisions and vice president for Educational Affairs.

 

abbeville first bank scholarshipTwo Piedmont Technical College students recently received the Abbeville First Bank Endowed Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Not pictured is Austin Rodgers, a BCT student from Hodges. Awarded annually to a BCT student from Abbeville or Greenwood, the scholarship is based on academic achievement and financial need.  

 

 

automotive scholarshipTwo Piedmont Technical College automotive technology students were recently awarded the Automotive Technology Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. The scholarship is awarded annually to an automotive technology student with a GPA of 3.0 or greater and financial need.

The scholarship, named for Congressman Butler Derrick, is awarded annually to associate degree students in high academic standing. 

 

lena warren scholarshipPiedmont Technical College student and Silverstreet resident Peter Rambo, right, was recently awarded the Lena Wood Warren Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Rambo, an associate degree nursing student, is congratulated by Lena Wood Warren. This scholarship is available to a PN or ADN student who has completed at least one semester in the nursing program. The recipient has a 3.0 GPA or above, has an outstanding clinical performance as determined by clinical instructor, shows financial need and demonstrates leadership abilities.

 

lcwsc golf scholarshipPiedmont Technical College student and Laurens resident Eric Reynoso was recently awarded the Laurens County Water & Sewer Commission PTC Golf Classic Scholarship. The scholarship is funded through an annual golf tournament held each spring and selection is based on academic achievement and financial need. 

 

cy thomason scholarshipTwo Piedmont Technical College building construction technology (BCT) students were recently awarded the C.Y. Thomason, Sr. Memorial Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Thomason, who was a contractor for 50 years, the scholarship is awarded annually to a student in the Building Construction Technology program.

 

Piedmont Technical College heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology student and Newberry resident Jordy Cervantes was recently awarded the Fujifilm PTC Golf Classic Scholarship. The scholarship is funded through an annual golf tournament held each spring and selection is based on academic achievement and financial need. 

Piedmont Technical College associate degree nursing student and Leesville resident Brandie Walker recently received the Alfred and Miriam Adams Endowed Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. The scholarship is awarded annually to a Saluda County resident.
