Piedmont Technical College has been awarded nearly $600,000 as part of a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) that will fund 130 scholarship awards over the next four years in an effort to increase recruitment and retention in science, technology, engineering and mathematics-related fields. The first scholarships were recently awarded to 24 engineering technology, computer technology and automotive technology students and included the presentation of a “Loan to Own” laptop or automotive scan tool. Making the presentations were Christina Knight, left, engineering technology instructor and Keith Lasure, dean of engineering and industrial technology.
