Piedmont Technical College offers an array of summer youth camps
Piedmont Technical College (PTC) will host several summer camps where youths can have fun learning new skills.
“PTC summer camps give students the opportunity to explore creativity, technology and future career interests in a hands-on environment,” said Catherine Hamilton, Life and Leisure courses program manager with PTC’s Workforce Innovation Division. “We want these camps to be both educational and genuinely fun for students during the summer while also giving parents engaging opportunities for their children during the break.”
Upcoming camps include:
• June 22-25 - Roblox Coders (Ages 8–11 and 11–14)
Campers explore coding through Roblox® Studio while learning game design concepts and creating their own custom Roblox experiences using the Lua coding language.
• July 6-9 - VR: The Future is Now (Ages 8–11 and 11–14)
Students explore virtual reality by designing their own immersive worlds and 3D experiences while learning introductory programming concepts. Participants will also take home their own VR viewer to continue exploring their projects.
• July 6-8 - Junior Chef Summer Camp (Grades 6–9)
Held at the Abbeville County Career Center, this hands-on culinary camp teaches students kitchen safety, knife skills, baking fundamentals and cooking techniques while creating a variety of sweet and savory dishes. Students will also receive recipes and Junior Chef merchandise. On the final day of camp, students will participate in a fun chef competition to showcase the skills they learned throughout the week.
• July 13-16 - Minecraft Designers (Ages 8–11 and 11–14)
Students learn to design custom Minecraft worlds while exploring map creation, Redstone, Command blocks, structures and custom textures to share with friends and family.
