Summer Camps & Programs

Piedmont Technical College is offering an exciting slate of summer programs for youth ages 8-17. From electronics to tiaras, we have a little something for everyone. Get hands-on with our agriculture, engineering, criminal justice and automotive programs. Put your imagination and creativity to work through our art, digital photography, dessert designing and creative writing offerings. Most importantly, have lots of fun.

 

Kids' College

Amazing Artist

Turn a splash of color and a canvas into your very own masterpiece when you create four different works of art at this creative summer camp! Unleash the awesome artist in you while experiencing different styles and techniques. All supplies included. Campers will display their projects on Thursday at noon for an Artist Review. Parents are invited to attend the review!

Becoming a Hero: Superhero Week

It’s a bird, it’s a plane……wait…..it’s Superhero Camp at PTC! We have all read about the comic book heroes, but what does it take to be a hero in real life? At this camp, you will learn about real heroes, what makes someone a hero, and what it means to be a hero in your community. In addition, you will also design and create your very own superhero. At the end of the week, you will present your new superhero to the class and show off their cool superhero powers. Meet with local heroes and leaders and learn how to make a positive impact in your community no matter how old you may be! You can make a difference!

If you love photography and computers, then this weeklong program is for you! You will learn photography basics, camera handling, composition, exposure and printing techniques in digital photography. You will edit your best photographs using Adobe Photoshop! During the program, you will take a surprise trip where you will be able to practice the techniques you have learned by capturing photographs! Lunch and snacks provided.

Gadgets and Goop

Get messy with entertaining, hands-on science demonstrations such as building an effective baking-soda volcano, creating gadgets that teach STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), and making your own ice cream and slime! On the final day of the camp, don’t forget to wear old clothes and bring an extra set of clothes and a towel. You’ll need it after our JELLO Wars Extravaganza! Liability waiver required due to the physical nature of some of the activities during this camp.

Let Go of My LEGOs

Explore the wonderful world of LEGOs. Build many different models demonstrating physical science and technology concepts including various powered forces, motion, simple machines and more. Work with a group to complete large-scale LEGO projects and create your own small-scale project to take home. Campers learn teamwork while tackling engineering and problem-solving challenges.

Mission: STEMpossible

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to participate in a full week of educational fun and adventure! Explore basic engineering concepts. Learn about your DNA. Discover your STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) type. Do new things such as design an assembly line or simulate a space mission to Mars! We’ll do all of this and so much more in this summer program for girls ages 10-13. Materials and lunch are included.

Rescue Rangers

Would you like to be a Nurse, Police Officer, Paramedic or Firefighter when you grow up? If so, then this summer camp is just for you! During this weeklong camp, you will learn basic rescuing tips such as CPR, what to do in emergency situations, and how to become the next Rescue Ranger. You’ll get to peek inside a real-life flight helicopter and meet the crew. You will also have the opportunity to meet health care professionals and learn about their jobs as Paramedics, Nurses, Firefighters, Police Officers, and more. At the end of the camp, campers will receive a PTC Rescue Ranger certificate.

Have you always wanted to write your own book? At this camp, participants will become the author of their own short story! Participants will work to improve their reading comprehension through creative writing techniques and boost confidence through engaging reading, writing and storytelling activities. Participants will gain a solid foundation in grammar, sentence structure, overall writing and may even become the next best-selling author!

PTC Ninja Warrior

Are you the next PTC Ninja Warrior? Challenge yourself on obstacle courses while learning NINJA skills, drills, and how to become a REAL ninja warrior. Gain confidence in your achievements and grow your teamwork skills while you see if you have what it takes to become a Ninja Warrior. Our coaches will help guide you through many,increasingly difficult obstacles. This camp will take place at Connie Maxwell Children’s Home in Greenwood, SC. Water and snacks will be provided. Liability waiver required due to the physical nature of some of the activities during this camp.

Have you started thinking about your career? Have you considered working in health care or public service? Would you like to be a Nurse, Police Officer, Paramedic or Firefighter? Scout Badge Programs

PTC is offering mini STEM-based summer camps to spark your child’s interest in one of the many career fields here at Piedmont Tech. These career-based camps are packed full of fun and interactive projects that are designed for everyone! If you are a Scout, you may earn a Merit Badge for each area you successfully complete. These programs are for youth ages 11-16, and lunch is included.

Automotive Maintenance

Learn general maintenance, safety and tools to use when working on an automobile. You will complete the course with an oil change and will learn how to correctly change a tire.
