Summer Camps & Programs

Piedmont Technical College is offering an exciting slate of summer programs for youth this summer! From aviation to photography, we have something for everyone. Get hands-on with our future agents in training, mechatronics and automotive technology programs. Expand your horizons with our digitech, aviation expedition and junior dessert designer programs. Put your imagination and creativity to work through our drawing, painting and sewing offerings. Most importantly, have lots of fun.

Kids' College - ages 7-12

Grandma Didn’t Sew Like This

Have you outgrown your favorite concert, sports or funny saying t-shirts, but want to keep them forever? Take this introduction to sewing class and make a patchwork pillow to keep your t-shirt memories alive. Make sure to clean your closets/drawers and bring in six to eight t-shirts for the first day! Learn how to navigate a sewing machine by winding a bobbin and threading needles! Impress your friends with the cool creations you will learn to make. Remember, grandma didn’t sew like this! Take home sewing machine included.

Amazing Artist

Create four different paintings in this camp! Explore the awesome artist in you and experience different styles and techniques. All supplies included. Campers will display their projects on Thursday at 5 p.m. for an Artist Review. Parents are invited to attend!

Let Go of My LEGOs - Newberry

Explore the wonderful world of LEGOs. Build many different models demonstrating physical science and technology concepts including various powered forces, motion, simple machines and more. Campers build a variety of projects such as a car, semi-truck, snow plow or other types of equipment. In this camp, campers learn working in teams while we prepare students for engineering and problem-solving challenges.

Junior Dessert Designer

Are you ready to be the Decorating Champ? Get your piping bag ready and see how easy and rewarding it is to decorate beautiful cupcakes and cookies that will delight your family and friends. Our hands-on classes teach decorating techniques used by the professionals you see on TV. Learn secrets and the tricks of the trade as you participate in challenges that will be judged on creativity and presentation. Be part of an ultimate cake-off team to become the cake decorating champs or see who has what it takes to win the cupcake war. Materials provided.

In this camp, participants will improve their reading comprehension through creative writing techniques to boost confidence through engaging reading, writing and storytelling activities. Participants will gain a solid foundation in grammar, sentence structure, overall writing and may even become the next best-selling author.

Explore the world of electronics in a fun and interactive format. Participants will be introduced to basic electronic circuits. They will have hands on experience in using breadboards to prototype circuits, basic soldering skills, basic soldering iron maintenance and safety. No previous electronic experience is required.

This summer program offers students exciting and innovative ways to get hands-on experience with important STEM concepts.
