Summer Camps & Programs

Piedmont Technical College is offering an exciting slate of summer programs for youth ages 8-17. From electronics to tiaras, we have a little something for everyone. Get hands-on with our agriculture, engineering, criminal justice and automotive programs. Put your imagination and creativity to work through our art, digital photography, dessert designing and creative writing offerings. Most importantly, have lots of fun.

Summer programs for youth

Amazing Artist

Turn a splash of color and a canvas into your very own masterpiece when you create four different works of art at this creative summer camp! Unleash the awesome artist in you while experiencing different styles and techniques. All supplies included. Campers will display their projects on Thursday at noon for an Artist Review. Parents are invited to attend!

Crafty Creations

Do you like creating or designing? Whether it’s making your own candles, chapstick, sugar scrub, lotion, creating your own tie-dyed shirt or any other DIY project, participants in this program will learn the “how to’s” to create their take-home special projects using many items you have at home. Most materials provided.

DigiTech

If you love photography, this is the program for you! The week-long program will engage participants in basic camera handling, composition, exposure and printing techniques in digital photography and use Adobe Photoshop. You will take a field trip to a fun, exciting location so you can capture photographs using the technology and techniques you learned in this camp. Lunch and snacks provided.

Let Go of My LEGOs

Explore the wonderful world of LEGOs. Build many different models demonstrating physical science and technology concepts including various powered forces, motion, simple machines and more. Campers build a variety of projects such as a car, semi-truck, snow plow or other types of equipment. Campers learn teamwork while tackling engineering and problem-solving challenges.

Mission: STEMpossible

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be a week full of educational fun and adventure! Learn about your DNA while making a DNA bracelet and how to use milk to make plastic. Find out what your STEM type is, what engineering and roller coasters have in common, design an assembly line, paint a milk necklace, and explore in a mission to Mars are just a few of the many activities in this summer program for girls ages 10-13. (Materials and lunch provided).

Princess Camp

Pink tutus and pixie dust! Little girls will love everything about this camp from pretending to be a princess to dancing, music, make-up, fingernail polish, princess stories, along with crafting princess accessories. “Little Princesses” will spend their time learning proper manners, self-esteem, social interaction with others, dance movements, and coordination while participating in various fun activities. The week will end with a coronation tea party for the new princess.

The Next Best Seller

Have you always wanted to write your very own book? At this camp, participants will become the author of their very own short story! Participants will work to improve their reading comprehension through creative writing techniques and boost confidence through engaging reading, writing and storytelling activities. Participants will gain a solid foundation in grammar, sentence structure, overall writing and may even become the next best-selling author!

The Sweet Retreat

Are you ready to be the decorating champ? Get your piping bag ready and see how easy and rewarding it is to decorate beautiful cupcakes and cookies that will delight your family and friends. Our hands-on program teaches decorating techniques used by the professionals you see on TV. Learn their secrets and the tricks of the trade. See if you have what it takes to win the cupcake war. Materials provided.

PTC is also offering mini STEM-based summer camps to spark your child’s interest in one of the many career fields here at Piedmont Tech. These career-based camps are packed full of fun and interactive projects that are designed for everyone! If you are a Scout, you may earn a Merit Badge for each area you successfully complete. Animal Science

In this one-day workshop, participants will learn how to properly work with livestock. Participants will learn the proper diet, how they convert forage and grain into milk along with many other topics. You don’t have to be a Boy Scout to sign-up but if you are, you may earn a Merit Badge for each area you successfully complete.

Automotive Maintenance

Learn general maintenance, safety and tool to use when working on an automobile. You will complete the course with an oil change and learning how to correctly change a tire. Drafting

Farm Mechanics

Learn about farm equipment, safety, and setting up a farm shop in this one-day workshop. Participants will learn how power is produced/transferred in diesel engines, hydraulic systems and other power systems. Plant Science

Truck Transportation
