Toyota Kata

"Toyota Kata is a way of changing behavior and establishing a habit of continuous improvement. Traditionally, goals are set but there is never a path or process to achieve the goals. Kata examines the management challenge and the current condition before establishing a target condition, and through steady experiment and practice, achieves new conditions. The new condition grows ever closer to the challenge. The Toyota Kata Class is a ‘learn by doing’ class with a planned outcome for all participants to be able to practice the Improvement Kata and to confidently practice the Coaching Kata to facilitate others who are practicing step 4 of the Improvement Kata.
