MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A certificate in diesel equipment technology, a minimum of 5 years of diesel related work experience with demonstrated competencies in the diesel equipment field, ASE certification, and a valid driver?s license; or a high school diploma, a minimum of 6 years of diesel related work experience with demonstrated competencies in the diesel equipment field, ASE certification, and a valid driver?s license.

This position operates within a fully functioning diesel equipment lab. An employee would expect to work within the same work area as a traditional diesel repair facility. An employee would be expected to be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted and maneuver over and under trucks, as needed, for sufficient instruction. This position will require some overnight travel and could have an instructor teach at multiple locations depending on departmental need.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
-Associates degree with 10 years experience and Master ASE certification.

-Current up-to-date technical knowledge of the Diesel Repair field to include up-to-date computer systems and engine machines.

-Excellent communication and human relation skills and the ability to challenge and motivate students.

Job Description:

In this challenging role, you will support the Diesel Equipment Technology department at Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following:

-Develop, revise, and maintain course materials and equipment to current, state-of-the-art levels.

-Deliver instruction, demonstrate techniques and oversee hands-on lab experience; maintain a neat and orderly lab and classroom environment, instill/maintain discipline; test and evaluate student progress.

-Serve as an academic advisor for Diesel students.

-Develop and implement administrative reports in a timely and complete manner.

-Keep current in technical and professional knowledge and actively participates in the team management concept of the college.

-Participate in recruitment and placement initiatives to include industry/school visits, career fairs, career talks, tours, serving on local advisory committees for other programs, and any other events deemed suitable by the department head.
