S.C. Code Ann. 22-1-150 and S.C. Code Ann. 22-1-160 require that magistrates' employees enter into bonds for the faithful performance and discharge of their duties.
Successful completion of pre-employment credit, criminal and drug screenings.
High school diploma and SC Driver's License.
The clerk manages filings of all civil lawsuits in Magistrate Court; Evictions, Lawsuits, Collections, and Restraining Orders, entering all cases and receipts into the web-based court management system. In addition, the clerk is responsible for reconciling bank statements and preparing a monthly accounting transmittal of civil receipts to the County Treasurer. Must be able to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals and professional journals, effectively presenting information and responding to questions from the public. Must be able to prioritize work using time efficiently and maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
