Requirements:

An associate's degree and seven (7) years of experience at an advanced skill level in the maintenance and repair of electronic communications equipment; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL). (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. However, qualified applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.
A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Job Description:

Supervises the installation, operation, and maintenance of the electrical traffic control devices inDistrict 2, including stop-and-go traffic signals, overhead flashers and shoulder flashers. This includes overseeing the construction of these devices by the signal crew, making adjustments in the field to electronic equipment and repairing poles, cables, electrical wiring, signal heads and cabinets as necessary and when necessary. Manages the administrative duties of the District 2
Signal Shop. This includes monitoring and entering data into HMMS and the Work Request Program. Ensures equipment is in good condition and utilized. Ensures adequate stock of materials and supplies. Via SCDOT's computer systems, oversees the operations of the closed loop signal systems in District 2. This includes installing firmware and software, troubleshooting as necessary to ensure proper communication and maintaining these systems. Ensures that the District 2 preventative maintenance program is accomplished on an annual basis. This program includes a checklist field inspection and prompt corrections as necessary for all stop-and-go traffic signals. Oversees the construction of traffic control devices under contract in District 2.
This involves providing adequate contact with and inspection of the contractors to ensure that the contractors build devices to SCDOT's standards and specifications. Supervises minor electrical repairs in District 2 facilities.
