Requirements:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum Education Requirements: High School diploma or GED.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • 1+ years manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to work in team based environment.
  • Self-starter who is able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of the CP Spinning process.
  • Working knowledge of SPC.
  • Thorough understanding of yarn identification systems.

  • Good mechanical and electrical skills (carbon delivery systems, extruder, meters, pumps, carbon filters, etc.)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

 

  • Must work where the noise level requires hearing protection.
  • May be exposed to various hazards such as corrosive chemicals, steam, molten polymer, equipment related dangers, etc.
  • Routine safety equipment:  long sleeves, safety shoes, hard hat, ear plugs/muffs, safety glasses
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to push/pull buggies or carts up to 200 lbs.
  • Ability to carry 25 lbs. or less.
  • Capable of climbing flights of stairs or ladders.
  • Working at heights
  • Capable of walking/standing 8-10 hours per day.

 

Job Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW

With safety as the foundation and basis for all performed functions, the Co-Spinning Operator must work in a team-based organization with limited direct supervision.  The operator must carry out all functions directly involved with the second and third floor spinning operation. The operator must contribute to a quality spun yarn product for the Drawjet Area, the downstream customer.

 

TARGETED OUTCOMES

  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one priority by adhering to all safe work practices, policies, and processes and operations in a secure manner always 
  • Monitor and make sure product meets all quality specifications report any off standards immediately to make sure they are corrected

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain records, reports, and logs to accurately document performance, changes and other actions to provide shift-to-shift continuity and participates in process problem solving
  • Wipe each position on a preset cycle
  • Maintain/Stock carbon extruder hoppers. This also includes maintaining carbon compound inventory
  • Monitor and maintain integrity of position foam screens, kick plates, and 2nd and 3rd floor insulation
  • Replace and repair carbon branch lines (Any part of extruder that fails to perform)
  • Respond to Provox alarms and take corrective actions as needed to maintain steady state conditions.  This includes navigating through Provox to make carbon set-point changes
  • Analyze process trends and anticipate process upsets
  • Shut down and start up Co-Spinning system
  • Change out extruder filter screens
  • Communicate to team members the status of system process
  • Maintain housekeeping at an acceptable level on all assignments
  • Take safety samples and follow up on safety concerns
  • Handle coordinator duties when assigned
  • Replace spinning packs as needed to maintain high quality spun yarn
  • Replace/repair mechanical equipment (i.e. extruder, motors, etc.) and electrical equipment (i.e. thermocouples) as needed to maintain system integrity
  • Rebuild and or repair parts that have been replaced (i.e. branch lines, carbon pumps)
