Requirements:

MINIMUM AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

A high school diploma. Must be at least 18 years of age and have no criminal record. Must be able to successfully complete and pass the South Carolina Criminal Justice Basic Telecommunications class (or be already certified) and successfully complete National Crime Information Center (NCIC) training within 1 year of hire. Must maintain certifications. A valid driver's license is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have great communication and computer skills. Ability to correctly evaluate situations and make good decisions. Ability to deal firmly, yet tactfully, with the general public. Ability to interact well with members of the University community as well as with fellow employees. Ability to make decisions independently. Must be able to complete all necessary training requirements through the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions during stressful and emergency situations. Work involves operating a multichannel radio console and multi-line telephone system. Ability to type 30 WPM correctly.

Job Description:

Receives all incoming calls to Lander University Police Department, obtaining essential data, evaluating the situation, and initiating an appropriate response. Operates communications equipment to include radios, teletype, and computers. Provides information and/or assistance to officers, law enforcement agencies, maintenance personnel and the general public.

Schedule:
Full-Time: NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Varied (includes some nights, weekends and Holidays)
