Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in engineering and two (2) years of entry-level engineering work experience;
or a bachelor's degree in engineering technology and four (4) years of entry-level engineering
work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human
Resources Regulations.
A valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

Job Description:

Manages and updates the roadway assets inventory system by tracking the planning and progress
of all ditching, herbicide, resurfacing, and making programs for state maintained roads in
Newberry County. Assists Resident Maintenance Engineer in the creation and implementation of
the Business Plan for the routine maintenance operations of Newberry County. Assists Resident
Maintenance Engineer in researching data and providing technical assistance in preparing written
reports for short and long range maintenance programs. Processes monthly reports for Haz-mat,
OSHA, MS-4, and various other reports. Responsible for personnel matters including: EPMS
reviews, PD generation and updates, disciplinary action policy, monthly safety meetings, and
various other personnel procedures. Functions as public liaison by providing representation at
various public meetings on an intermittent basis and handling public complaints. Conducts
internal meetings such as safety, foreman, crew, and staff meetings. Supervises all maintenance
activities and communications when Resident Maintenance Engineer is absent and update RME
upon return. Supervises and coordinates emergency operations during inclement weather,
snow/ice or any related emergency. Performs other related duties as required.
