Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology and four (4) years of journey-level
engineering work experience; or a bachelor's degree in engineering technology and six (6)
years of journey-level engineering work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in
accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A master's degree in engineering and
two (2) years of entry-level engineering work experience may be substituted for the required
experience.
A valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

Job Description:

Plans, coordinates, and schedules all necessary maintenance activities of all roadways, bridges,
and rights-of-way in Saluda County within the state system. Supervises all maintenance crews
in work assignments to ensure that all activities are performed in accordance to Department
policies and standards. Performs inspections of roadways, bridges and rights-of-way to ensure
that they are maintained in a safe condition for the traveling public. Performs various office
related duties such as preparing maintenance reports, correspondence, and handling personnel
matters. Interviews new hires, reviews encroachment permits and requisitions. Investigates
maintenance requests and complaints received from the general public and public officials and
ensures that corrective action is taken. Reviews and approves purchase orders, requisitions,
weekly and monthly reports. Provides oversight, quality control and tracks progress of District
Bridge replacement crew to make sure all aspects of crew including preparation, procurement,
and daily production is met for the crew. Conducts various meetings such as safety, training
and personnel meetings. Performs other related duties as required.
