Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand fire service operations and equipment, usually associated with three to five years of fire service experience. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of South Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Must possess IFSAC Firefighter II or equivalent and IFSAC Instructor I or equivalent certification or obtain both within 12 months of hire.
Saluda County is accepting applications for the position of Fire Service Coordinator. Duties include, but are not limited to: Respond to emergency calls for assistance, including, but not limited to, structure fires, motor vehicle accidents, hazardous materials incidents, etc.; Ensure that all fire service equipment and apparatuses are inspected and maintained on a regular basis; Assist fire stations with incident reporting and data collection; Assist with fire service procurement and accounting functions; Assist with fire service grant requests, including gathering data for grant applications; Serve as secretary to the Saluda County Fire Board; Coordinate training activities for fire service personnel; Coordinate the scheduling of annual physical examinations for firefighters and EMS personnel; Ensure that all fire service entities are in compliance with all state and federal mandates; Assist the Emergency Management Director and Assistant Emergency Management Director with Emergency Operations Center Management.
