Requirements:

A 10th grade education and one-half (1.5) years or related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.

Job Description:

Performs duties using manual labor in such tasks as clearing of right-of-ways, cleaning drainage ditches, repairing shoulders, patching potholes, making base repairs, repairs to bridges, paving driveways, and laying sideline/cross line pipe. Operates a standard dump truck with snowplow attachment and sand spreader to remove snow and ice from highways and bridges. Assists in the replacement or repair to steel guardrail requiring the ability to work with small tools and to be physically able to dig holes for guardrail posts, etc. Removes litter, debris and dead animals from roadway and right-of-ways.Trains in the operation of heavier equipment such as tandem dump trucks, front -end loaders, self-propelled belt loaders, steel wheel and pneumatic rollers, motor graders, and backhoes. Operates power tools breaking out sidewalks and curbs for driveway construction and other concrete or asphalt pavement repair jobs. Performs other related job duties as requested or assigned by supervisor.
