Requirements:

Should have a basic knowledge of electricity. Must be able to read and interpret cable records, staking sheets, specification books and circuit diagrams. Must be able to climb poles. Must have the ability to pay close attention to detail. Must have the skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the public and fellow employees. High School Diploma required and two year Computer/Electronics degree preferred. Working skills with computers and required test equipment. Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately in both written and verbal form.

Job Description:

Performs required work in connection with the installation and servicing of telephone instruments and related equipment on subscriber premises. Receives service orders and necessary equipment used in installing, upgrading or changing a customer’s telephone service or equipment.
Installs, removes or makes changes in residential, small business and pay station telephones per service order.
Makes all common types of single line telephone installations including identifying correct pair in pedestal or on terminal block, correctly installing service drop, proper bonding of ground and neat arrangement of inside wiring. Within the central office or remote, locates the proper cable pair, line relay circuit, and properly connects these components as shown on the service order. Sees that truck, tools and working equipment assigned are properly used and kept in good working order and that any required repairs are promptly reported. Complies with all traffic laws, safety rules, regulations and safe practices while operating the vehicle assigned.
