Requirements:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE 

  • Minimum Education Requirements: High School diploma or GED.   

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in the IF area.   

  • Associates degree, military training, and/or related experience is a plus.   

  • ISO knowledge is required.   

  • Comprehensive knowledge of plant processes, O.I.’s and S.P.I.’s.  – Used to determine the status of process and for product dispositioning. 

  • Specialized knowledge of basic statistical quality control – Used for product sampling and setting control limits. 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of testing equipment for process control and product acceptance.  – Used for product definition and acceptance. 

  • Specialized analytical skills. – Used for process troubleshooting. 

  • Generalized oral and written communications skills. – Used to obtain agreement and support of supervision and operating personnel. 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of operation of plant computer system related to product process control and product acceptance. – Used to for process control, troubleshoot plant testing, and finished product dispositioning.  

  • Technical School or College Degree a plus 

  • Specific Skills: Demonstrated Technical Writing or Communication  

  • Computer Skills: Demonstrated literacy in Windows Operating Systems(Microsoft Excel) and Reflections. SAP literacy a significant plus.  

  • Professional appearance for customer contact.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING ENVIRONMENT: 

  • Must work where the noise level requires hearing protection. 

  • May be exposed to various hazards such as corrosive chemicals (acetic acid for autoclave acid boil), steam, molten polymer, equipment related dangers, etc. 

  • Routine safety equipment:  long sleeves, safety shoes, hard hat, ear plugs/muffs, safety glasses 

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. 

  • Ability to push/pull buggies or carts up to 200 lbs. 

  • Ability to carry 25 lbs. or less. 

  • Capable of climbing flights of stairs or ladders. 

  • Working at heights 

  • Capable of walking/standing 8-10 hours per day. 

Job Description:
  • POSITION OVERVIEW 

    The Operations Quality Support is responsible for optimizing yields and providing assurance that products will meet customers’ requirements by assuring that product or raw material is produced and dispositioned in accordance with specifications, operating instructions, plant tests and by recommending alterations to instructions and specifications as dictated by good manufacturing practice and Ascend quality policies.   

    TARGETED OUTCOMES 

    •  Minimize Customer Complaints by working with the manufacturing area, and lab area. 

    • Utilizes strong statistical background to generate and analyze performance data and relate back to package build quality for improvements to package build processes and area process metrics  

    • Ensures production meets specification and work with suppliers/customers on gaps and controlling quality excursions.  Analyze quality data over time to ensure suppliers are capable of providing quality parts.  

    • Retains all quality data electronically and sends out monthly reports on quality compliance, steel plate performance, and package performance/metrics.  

    • Proficient at supporting quality audits (internally and externally) and works well with auditors  

    • Works well with Technology team members when needed on improvement projects or new technology trials and assists with planning/organizing these trials.  

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  

    • Manage Customer Complaints by working with the manufacturing area, and lab area for resolutions. 

    • Manage reworks by working with the manufacturing area and lab area for resolutions. 

    • Sampling, dispositioning, and inventory control: 

    • Using SAP, issue MDO's for product returns from finished goods inventory.  Coordinate and maintain control of disposition finished product for application to customer orders, sometimes in the absence of pre-established criteria.   

    • Select representative samples of finished product for internal and customer evaluations. 

    • Audit finished product to determine outgoing quality levels (attribute). 

    • Audit customer returns. 

    • Maintain customer shipment summaries, customer quality requirements and issue certificates of analysis (COA) as required. 

    • ISO Auditor. 

    • Process control 

    • Perform quality checks on production and testing equipment. 

    • Process characterization 

    • Collect and organize operating data relating to an upset. 

    • Supplement operating data with product and process audits frequently using diagnostic instruments. 

    • Assist with the evaluation of the above data to determine whether the upset is process, operator, or equipment related. 

    • Recommend corrective actions to relieve the upset. 

    • Comply with all safety/health related policies and procedures, participate in company sponsored safety programs and activities, and report to management those conditions or actions by employees or others that might create a hazard to themselves or others in the plant.  Reports any work-related injury or illness, no matter how minor, to their supervisor or lead.  

    • Maintain housekeeping on assigned machines and in areas.   

    • Assist in machine start-ups and shutdowns. 

    • While this position is primarily a day position, on occasion may be needed to work rotating shifts.   

    • This position backs-up the Operations Technician position.   

    • Must be able to work call-ins, unscheduled hours, and overtime when needed.
