Requirements:

This position requires the ability to interact and relate to persons with disabilities in a dignified and concerned manner. A basic knowledge of the functions and capabilities of the developmental disabled. This position requires a Bachelor Degree or an Associate's Degree with 4 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Description:

The basic purpose of this position is to provide and promote an age appropriate and developmental progressive program for recreation/leisure services and special events for individuals with profound, severe and moderate levels of disabilities.
?Maintains monthly and annual documentation towards established active treatment guidelines and other required reports.
?Maintains up to date training certifications needed to carry out programs, i.e., CDL, Senior Lifesaving, CPO, Red Cross Aid, CPR and Defensive Driving. Plans and implements a variety of programs and special events such as Special Olympics based on the consumers; needs, interest and level of participation.
?Follows Behavior Support Plans as written and complete documentation for behavior problems or injuries for individuals served.
?Provides recreation/leisure programming for consumers in the assigned units and active treatment programs in general throughout the center and provide activities that will allow the consumers to improve their level of functioning and quality of life in general.
?Keep work area clean and orderly and maintain age appropriate, developmental sound materials to carry out sufficient active treatment programs.
?Plans and implements group special activities not normally offered such as sport events, movies, dances, etc.
