A high school diploma and six (6) years of progressively responsible field experience in geodetic surveying or related area; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.
Performs inspection on complex road and bridge construction projects. Assists in the management of construction projects. Ensures contractor is performing all work in accordance with SCDOT state specifications and policies. Trains in all phases of construction work, including pipe, curb and gutter, erosion control, asphalt, grading, drainage, and concrete. Trains to become certified in specialized areas, including Asphalt Roadway, Earthwork and Base,
CEPSCI, Concrete, and Foundation. Trains other inspectors in all areas of construction. Assists with project closeout. Assists with utility coordination when conflicts arise during construction. Performs other duties as assigned by the Resident Construction Engineer.
