Requirements:

A high school diploma. Must be at least 18 years of age and have no criminal record. Must be certified through the South Carolina Criminal Justice Basic Telecommunications class and preferably have successfully completed National Crime Information Center (NCIC) training. Must live in close proximity and able to work flexible hours. Must have strong skills in providing excellent customer service and demonstrate strong ethics. Must have valid driver's license and safe driving history. Must have great communication and computer skills. Ability to correctly evaluate situations and make good decisions. Ability to deal firmly, yet tactfully, with the general public. Ability to interact well with members of the University community as well as with fellow employees. Ability to make decisions independently. Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions during stressful and emergency situations. Work involves operating a multichannel radio console and multi-line telephone system. Ability to type 30 WPM correctly.

Job Description:

This position is responsible for providing radio and telephone communications for the University Police Department and for dispatching calls for assistance to the University Police officers. Operates communications equipment to include radios, teletype, and computers. Provides information and/or assistance to officers, law enforcement agencies, maintenance personnel and the general public.

Schedule:
Varied. Up to 25 hours per week.
