Essential Skills and Experience:
? Excellent communication skills verbal and written
? Proficient computer skills with Microsoft, and test department specific software
? Knowledge of measurement techniques, hydraulics and vehicle techniques
? Familiarity with data acquisition systems, data analysis and processing
? CAN/LIN communication protocol based electrical hardware development
? Ability to learn software tools as required: ClearQuest, ClearCase, CDM Studio, eASEE.cdm, Axalant, DOORS, Winsmith Weibull, INCA, CANalyzer, MobiDig, Testman, CANnect, Uni-8 and the associated scripting languages for selected software/hardware packages.
? Ability to work independently and decisiveness
? Must be able to work in a team setting and participate actively.
? Must possess a Bachelors of Science in Electrical (Mechanical) Engineering (minimum) from an ABET accredited institution
? 1 to 5 years prior testing experience in automatic transmission, vehicle drive train, or similar areas
? Must be available to travel and stay at various main locations. (May be up to 6 months)

Preferred Skills and experience:
? Electrical Engineering (BSEE) strongly preferred.
? Five plus years of engineering experience with an automotive company.
? Electrical Certification
? German language skills are welcome.

Job Description:

Position Summary: This test engineer position requires technical expertise and strong communication skills to: support ZFTG?s efforts to develop and market automatic transmissions; protect ZF?s intellectual property regarding said transmission; and influence specifications for said transmission?s systems. Works integrally with all needed resources in the United States as well as in Germany in performing test activities for application engineering and plant related tasks.

Position Roles:
? Support the efforts of product testing related items for automatic transmissions
? Test and debug electrical hardware, measurement devices, mechatronic, and CAN/LIN communication protocol based products.
? Maintain, store and update changes of electrical/electronic equipment/devices using configuration management tools for revision control.
? Support test department with vehicle, dynamometer, engine test bench, and component testing. (Transmission verification and qualification testing).
? Define, prepare, verify and release electrical engineering documents. Participate in the definition and specification of electrical engineering procedures.
? Defines test plans, follow test procedures, reports, and issues work orders for the lab technicians

Essential Functions:
Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
? Support the basic development testing team from Germany on site in USA
? Electronics and electrical component inspection and assessment
? Support on-going test equipment validation
? Support test facility electrical infrastructure engineering
? Perform engine up fitting and setup (electrical/electronic) for dyno testing.
? Vehicle instrumentation, data acquisition and data analysis tools and software (CANalyzer, FAMOS, PASU, INCA, vHSG, IMC Device, etc.).
? Customer interface (OEM and engine OE) regarding prototype and testing items
? Knowledge of automotive communication protocol links (SAE J1939; SAE J1587, etc), ABS controls, engine controls, and transmission controls.
? Recommend and document procedural system changes and enhancements for electrical/electronic items.
? Read and interpret product specifications and electrical hardware requirement specifications. Identify gaps and risks and implement solutions to mitigate gaps and risks.
? Create basic electrical circuits to test products in various configurations from proof of concept from prototypes through production. Create basic electrical circuits for customer demo and initial testing or review at customer?s site.
? Issue work orders for the lab technicians and define the work that needs to be done for testing
? Setup, configure, and operate test setups, fixtures, and instrumentation as required by test plans, test standards, and customer instructions.
? Implement and deploy electronic component test fixtures, testing apparatus and machines and verify their appropriateness.
? Troubleshoot and determine root causes of issues in prototype transmissions during development phase of new applications.
? Follow the procedures and specifications established by the divisions R&D center
? Support assembly and handling of prototype transmissions
? Support training of additional staff from ZF or OEM.
? Support industrialization process.
? Support the completion of all 8-d?s/ Lead 8-d team for test related issues.
? Follow safe practices.
? Comply with all ZF written environmental and quality policies.
? Working with manager to identify and completed skills enhancement training.
? Travel up to 25%. Initial travel may exceed this amount due to training in / travel to Germany.
