Requirements:

A 10th grade education and three and one-half (3.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.

Job Description:

Serves as crew leader performing various duties in a county such as mowing shoulders, clearing brush, shrubs, and trees from right-of-way, and performing manual skilled labor. Sets up traffic control according to SC Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) Standards to warn motorist of road work ahead. Operates boom mowers, slope mowers, and/or batwing mowers in roadside and right-of-way clearing operations as necessary. Performs on-call duties for afterhour emergencies. Operates tandem dump truck in hauling maintenance and construction materials such as concrete pipes, asphalt, dirt, and coquina. Performs other related job duties as requested or assigned by supervisor. Operates chain saw in cutting trees on right-of-way. Conducts and documents pre-operation vehicle or equipment inspection. Operates various pieces of equipment in snow and ice removal as necessary.
