MINIMUM AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A 10th grade education and three and one-half (3.5) years of related trades experience; or an
approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License. (NOTE): This position requires a
valid Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License within six (6) months of placement
in the position. However, applicants without a Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s
License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class ?A? Commercial
Driver?s License are available
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
None.
Operates combination front-end loader and backhoe to clean out drainage ditches and to install sideline and cross line pipes. Acts as crew leader in the installation of driveways; ditching and
shoulder operations, and the installation or repair of sideline or cross line pipes. Assumes
supervisor's duties and responsibilities during their absence. Operates standard dump truck
with snow plow attachment, sand spreader/brine tanker to remove snow and ice from highways
and bridges. Operates tandem ten-wheel dump truck, standard dump truck, and flatbed truck
for hauling materials including asphalt, limestone, dirt, soil, cement, pipe, construction
materials and debris. Assists in instructing crew members daily in safety practices. Practices
includes flagging operations, wearing of safety equipment, vehicle safety, or when working with
hazardous material and waste. Sets up traffic control according to SCMUTCD Standards to warn
motorist of road work ahead. Conducts and documents pre-operation vehicle/equipment
inspection. Performs other related job duties as requested or assigned by supervisor. Removes
litter, debris and dead animals from roadway and rights-of-way.
