A 10th grade education and three and one-half (3.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.
Acts as crew leader supervising crew mowing shoulders and right of way. Sets up traffic control according to SCMUTCD Standards to warn motorist of road work ahead. Operates boom mower, slope mowers and/or batwing mowers in roadside and right of way clearing operations as necessary. Produces daily records of work performed and materials used. Enters information into HMMS system in absence of supervisor. Performs safety inspection on tractors and mowers, ensuring all safeguards are in place. Performs other job duties including on call for after hour emergencies. Serves as crew leader engaged in storm damage and or ice or snow removal.
